General Membership Comments

On Wednesday July 2 2008, team members were invited to share their thoughts and ideas for the coming season.

Attending: Mark, Virgil, Zack, Leon, Paul, Troy, Wiley and Buzz plus Pete, Jim, Mike and Len from the PrideWorks Board of Directors.

Here is a snapshot of some of the many great ideas put forth (some have been combined):

• more focus on training support, especially for new riders
• events outside bars that bring the team together and promote camaraderie
• better follow up and accountability from volunteers and the steering committee
• possible orientation seminars
• promotion of health and positive body image in the bear community
• more fundraising from better produced events
• enhanced sponsorship and sponsor involvement
• more events during the ride itself, like ice cream socials or
• smoothies at the half way mark
• more team merchandise
• significant effort to outreach in Southern California
• more recruitment and advertising
• more options for involvement of non-cyclists
• business cards to hand out to potential supporters
• try and involve other bear organizations and businesses
• photo and video documentation, including team pictures
• improving the website and communications
• possible team training rides
